Maritime Environmental Award

Kevin Kelly CEO of Xtreme Projects grew up on the river mouth of Port Elizabeth and commits himself and his business to managing the marine environment. He is out every second day in his rubber duck removing pollution from the ocean in the Eastern Cape - much of which is sent for recycling to help him fund his initiative. 

Xtreme Projects, a company dedicated to the creation of oil spill response equipment, uses this ocean clean-up time to train people in managing the recovery of items over the side of vessels. "Boom deployment and recovery is an integral part of what we do and the quicker we can respond, the less damage is likely to be done to the environment, " Kevin Kelly explains.
